Bicester Nov ‘05.
Well, what can you say? We go for all of last year with only one weekend of rain and this year we have two terrible days on back to back Sundays.
Conditions were truly awful, but the U8’s played some great rugby and were extremely unlucky to lose 3 matches by a single try.
We didn’t drop many passes, unlike New Zealand on Saturday. Our tackling was good, with a number of players providing 2nd and 3rd lines of defence. Our attacking support play was great, with lots of plays having tackle counts of 6 or 7. We had some excellent tries, both team plays and solo efforts. And our team spirit was good to see, with everyone trying for everyone else.
Despite the results (4 losses and 1 draw) we played really well, and weren’t far behind the other teams (who had clearly been playing for at least a year, if not two).
A big thank you to all who played, and for keeping going when wet and cold.
And an even bigger thank you to Tiffany Renals who coached, encouraged and motivated all the U8’s and U7’s during the whole tournament.
