Faringdon Rugby Union Football Club - Bicester 07, u9/10 Report

Bicester Festival 1st April

Unfortunately we could only field six Under 9/10’s players for this tournament. However the six players Alfie, Alex Warburton, Alex Kitchener, Hugo Johnstone, Edward Kershaw-Houghton and George Kershaw-Houghton were able to represent Faringdon RUFC with a lot of credit. We were ably assisted by four players borrowed from Bicester, so a big thanks to Garrin, Max, Mark and Fraser. Apart from the first defeat by Tring we were able to turn it around and beat Bicester, Banbury, Beaconsfield and Bicester 2nd team.

Alex Warburton managed to score a try and would have had a second in the last game but failed to see the try line and went over the dead ball line, which was unfortunate as he had done all the hard work to get free. Edward Kershaw-Houghton put in some big tackles and was regularly on the shoulder when a player broke away. Hugo Johnstone who lead the team in one of the games and had some good breaks and on one of these he was only a meter or so from the try line, when he was regrettably stopped. Alex Kitchener worked tirelessly in the scrum and apart from one half of a game when he was nursing a slight knock, he played every game and worked hard for the team. George Kershaw-Houghton who played on the wing was able to assist in a couple of the tries. Alfie also had some good games and in the last game he made a try for Garrin and scored a fantastic solo try.

So well done Faringdon for some great results. Let’s hope we can field a full strength team in all the age groups, Under 7, 8, 9 and 10’s in the end of year tournament on April 29th.
