U8’s Match Report
In the first match against Wallingford B, Faringdon played well scoring 11 try’s to 6.
The second match was 2 hours later! Again, a high scoring match with a 10 to 4 win against Abingdon B.
From there on we had 20 minutes between games and the next was a much harder fought game, but saw us win 6-5 against Grove B due to some excellent tagging by the boys, well led by Charlie (Captain for the day).
The last game in our group was against Witney B, the Faringdon Boys played really well despite Witney supports who were so loud that the players couldn’t hear the ref, coaches or opposition shout tag.
This all meant that we were now in the U8’s final against Oxford.
Oxford’s defence was excellent causing at least 7 turnovers, but our tagging held them out also, and even though our usual fast runners struggled to get through, we were drawing up to the last play of the game when a try was awarded in somewhat dubious circumstances.
I was very proud of the way all 8 boys took this and cheered the opposition off the pitch. All in all an excellent performance by all 8 boys who, despite getting some knocks, gave their all and well deserved their silver medals.
